NAPS relies on dedicated volunteers who give their time, skills and compassion to help cats in our community. Whether you're helping inside the shelter, lending a hand at an event or supporting us behind the scenes, every contribution matters.

Volunteering with NAPS is about more than cleaning litter boxes and filling food bowls. Our volunteers help create a safe, comfortable environment for cats while they wait for their next chapter.
It's also a chance to meet some pretty incredible cats, work alongside people who care about animal welfare and make a tangible difference right here in our community.
Ways You Can Help
Shelter Care
Feeding, cleaning, laundry, dishes and helping keep
the shelter comfortable and welcoming.
Cat Socialization
Providing temporary care for kittens or cats who may benefit from time outside the shelter.
Fostering
Spending time with cats, providing enrichment, play and affection while helping them become comfortable around people.
Events & Fundraising
Helping with community events, fundraising activities and other NAPS initiatives.
Every volunteer plays an important role in helping NAPS provide a safe, comfortable environment for the cats in our care. We want our volunteers to feel confident in their roles and understand what is expected while volunteering with us.
What to Expect as a NAPS Volunteer
New volunteers are introduced to NAPS procedures, shelter routines and the responsibilities of their role. Additional guidance or training may be provided depending on the type of volunteer work involved.
Orientation & Training
Our cats rely on consistent care. Volunteers are expected to arrive for their scheduled commitments, follow shelter procedures and communicate with our team if circumstances change
Commitment & Reliability
Kindness matters — toward both animals and people. We ask volunteers to treat the cats in our care, fellow volunteers, staff and members of our community with patience, compassion and respect
Compassion & Respect
Age Requirements
Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or caregiver during all volunteer shifts.
