OUR OLD FACILITY
Since forming over 15 yrs ago NAPS has provided Nanton & surrounding areas with services geared towards reducing the stray, feral & homeless animal population in our community. This includes providing food, shelter & veterinary care to hundreds of animals annually, either surrendered by their owners, turned in by concerned citizens or trapped through our TNR Program. For years, all of this has been done out of a 600 sq ft space, generously donated to us by local businessman Kin Leong.
With no running water, poor insulation, limited space to adequately separate the sick from the healthy and difficult to sterilize surfaces, the space was less than ideal.

OUR NEW FACILITY
After ten years of fundraising, our new shelter facility is FINALLY completed, and we moved in December 2018! We are now located just south of the Nanton Vet Clinic (we share a parking lot with them) at 2405 19th Ave in Nanton. We now have running water, sterile and easy to clean surfaces, a Canine Unit, a larger isolation room and our very own washer and dryer! Here are some quick snapshots of the facility on move in day.
Since moving into our new building in the winter of 2018, we have made some gradual but necessary additions to the space. We have added a gigantic Catio to the exterior of the building, constructed by Ramshaw Excavating & Landscaping Services. This increases the feline room square footage in the summer months quite a bit, and the cats really enjoy the opportunity to bask in the sun rays, watch the gophers & birds and play safely outdoors without risk of injury. They have 24 hour access to the space via an open window unless the weather dips below zero. Generous NAPS supporter Dean Youngren also designed and installed a series of enrichment climbing shelves in both the main cat room & the Lynne Maynard Quiet Room, where kittens often reside. This has greatly improved the quality of life for the felines in our care. Vertical square footage gives the cats much more space to spread out, take some alone time or snuggle up in groups on cozy ledges and catwalks. Cats do love to be up high after all.
To the Canine Unit a similar outdoor run has been erected, where dogs in our care can catch some sun, use the washroom and socialize with potential adopters and their pets. Additionally, as promised we have installed three interior dog runs which will house new surrenders, or canines found roaming at large.
